Back in the days I wasn’t allowed to have a dog. “Too much hassle,” my mom said. So I stroked our neighbor’s big, black Newfoundland and took our other neighbor’s Jack Russell out for walks. On almost every street corner you can encounter a dog and its owner. My response at seeing the dogs is always, “Awww.” “So pretty!” “So sweet!” I still don’t own one, as by now my mantra has also become, “Too much hassle.” But my love for these animals has never faded.
This is why I started the series, Dogs of Rotterdam. Every day I see people with their beloved four-legged friends in my hometown Rotterdam. In this series, I try to capture the love between owners and their dogs.
The series was in 2016 part of the photo contest: De Kracht van Rotterdam.
